Gatorade Banned from New Durfee Fields Due to Health Concerns

John Eagan

A new athletic facility at Durfee High School in Fall River has been turning heads.  The cost...a whopping $5 million.

The trouble is, some people aren't using it in the way it was intended.  The new football field and tennis courts have been plagued with people leaving trash, and of all things, drinking Gatorade?

Tim McCloskey, the director of engineering and maintenance for the Fall River Public Schools says the reason for banning the sticky substance is a potential mold issue.

ABC 6 reporter John Guice has the story from Fall River...

I am the woman interveiwed in the recent Dur-fee peice.I am disappointed that the video shown misrepresented my views.I was asked how I felt about the rules, and had stated that I hoped that people followed these rules because the field is a great asset to the city and to the school. I also spoke of the extra track that people are allowed to use for strollers/ dogs. The peice stated that I "did not understand" about the gatorade rule;I had just not heard of it. My shown comments were misstrewn.
