Powerful Storm Lashes Southeastern Massachusetts

A storm that the National Weather Service is terming a "microburst" battered Acushnet and Mattapoisett Tuesday afternoon. It displayed some of the signs of a tornado but wasn't technically a twister.

Regardless, the 80 to 100 mile an hour winds ripped down trees, tore down power lines and closed roads all over the area. ABC6 Anchor Paul Mueller has detals from Acushnet.

This was the most incredible experience of my life. I have always been fascinated by weather phenoms, but haven't had the fortune of experiencing one first hand. Yesterdays storm was an amazingly powerful and bone chilling experience. Trees were snapping like twigs and blowing sideways. The wind was immense and the aftermath was crazy. Everything was shaking and soaring through the sky for about 3 minutes which felt like an eternity. Withing a few seconds, all was quiet and back to normal!!
