Was New Bedford Officer Soliciting Sex via Craig's List?

Police officers are usually held up to higher standards than most other citizens.  That is why a posting for 'sex' on a well known website is casting a cloud on one particular New Bedford officer. 

Craig's List is a website where you can find jobs, apartments, and of course...sex.  And one of our ABC 6 viewers tipped us off to one particular entry in that last category that got our attention.  So we clicked on the 'casual encounters' link and found a posting labeled, "Do you have a cop fantasy?"

ABC 6 sources have identified the man pictured on the posting as patrol officer, Norman Duchesneau.  The picture shows Duchesneau sitting in a police cruiser, wearing his officer's uniform.

The posting goes on to read, "Looking for friends with benefits", "Willing to play out police fantasy", and "Can be tender, can be rough, how do you want it?"

If it ends up he did post the add, he was willing to use police-issued apparel and devices to fulfill the "police fantasy". That would hopefully be a violation. I would hate to know that your tax dollars were going into a possible lewd act for one's personal enjoyment. There are certain profession's where higher standards are necessary, and law enforcement is one of them.

Because a single man is makes one mistake he has poor judgement and poor insight? He is not protecting or serving the public? Maybe people should be looking at what he has done with his career before anyone passes judgement, for all we know he has saved lives and kept the street of New Bedford safer his entire career.

Ed, what happened until innocent until proven guilty. And as far as firing him, do you what the protocol is for discipline for the New Bedford Police Department? I assume you do not, since you are from Providence. And why would one officers or a departments actions depict an entire cities "type"? I have seen plenty of stories on officers going unpunished in your city, and I assure you I think nothing less of your city. An entire city should not be characterized by one parties actions.

This cop needs to be fired. He has poor judgement, limited insight. Supposedly he is there to protect and serve. I question who is trying to serve or is it service. If that department does not fire him it shows what type of town they have.
