Sex Offender Accused of Rape Attempt At Mass. Hospital

Chris Boardman

BOSTON (AP) - A convicted sex offender has been ordered held without bail after being arrested in the attempted rape of a woman inside Massachusetts General Hospital.

David Flavell pleaded not guilty Friday in Boston Municipal Court to charges of assault with intent to rape and assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon.

According to the Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry, the 40-year-old is a Level 3 sex offender with previous convictions for assault with intent to commit rape and open and gross lewdness.

He was arrested in 2008 after being accused of entering a women's bathroom at a Braintree bookstore and peering under a wall separating two stalls.

His attorney, Neil Madden, did not immediately return a call for comment.
