OAK BLUFFS, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts high school has
canceled this weekend's football game and other athletic events
after some members of the team and other students developed
flu-like symptoms, some of which were later confirmed as swine flu.
Martha's Vineyard Regional High School principal Stephen Nixon tells the Cape Cod Times that school officials learned from parents last Friday that two students had symptoms consistent with swine flu, and more students developed the flu-like symptoms over the weekend.
By Monday, school authorities had about 10 students, primarily
football players, with flu-like symptoms.
The number of affected players prompted the cancellation of
Saturday's game against Cape Cod Regional Technical High School. The high school has about 700 students.
