Memorial Vigil, Funeral Planned for Marine Killed in Afghanistan

NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) - A memorial vigil and a funeral service for a Marine helicopter pilot from North Attleborough who died in Afghanistan last month have been scheduled.

A candlelight vigil in memory of Capt. Kyle Van De Giesen
will be held on Thursday evening at Community Field in North Attleborough. The public is invited.

A funeral has been scheduled for Friday morning at Saint Mary's
Church in town. A private burial service will follow at the
Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

The 29-year-old Van De Giesen died Oct. 26 in a helicopter
crash. He leaves behind his pregnant wife and an 18-month-old
daughter; his parents, two brothers and a sister.
