District Attorney Sam Sutter announced today that Nelson Melo, 32, of 584 Bay St., has been charged with the November 3rd murder of Chad Fleming in Taunton.

Mr. Melo will be arraigned on the murder charge in Taunton District Court Wednesday morning. Melo is currently being held on $50,000 cash bail after being charged with witness intimidation shortly after Mr. Fleming's murder.

Mr. Melo is the second man to be charged with Mr. Fleming's murder during this still ongoing investigation.

Aaron Morin, 26, of 125 South Main St., Assonet, was ordered held without bail during his murder arraignment in Taunton District Court on November 9th. Mr. Morin is due back in court for a pretrial hearing on December 8th.

As the investigation into the murder of Mr. Fleming remains active and ongoing, no further information regarding the facts of the case will be disclosed at this time.

Taunton Police received a call from staff members at Morton Hospital in Taunton around 11:15 p.m. on November 3rd to report that a deceased man had been driven to the hospital. Doctors at the hospital said the victim was dead on arrival.

The victim was identified as Chad Fleming, 31, of Deerfield Beach, Fla.

Preliminary investigation has revealed Mr. Fleming was apparently beaten to death in or around 584 Bay St. in Taunton.

The investigation is being coordinated by Co-First Assistant District Attorney William McCauley. The investigation is being led by Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to District Attorney Sutter's office and Taunton Police.
