Shooting in Boston Elementary School Gym Hoops Game

Chris Boardman

BOSTON (AP) - Boston police are investigating a shooting inside an elementary school gym during a pickup basketball game for kids.

Police say the victim was inside the gym at the John Marshall
Elementary School in the city's Dorchester neighborhood at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday when the gunman fired one shot. No one else was hurt.

Both men ran from the building, where the shooter fired more
shots, striking the victim in the arm and leg.

The 22-year-old victim, whose name was not immediately made
public, is recovering from wounds that are not considered life
threatening.

The shooter has not been apprehended.

Boston Police Superintendent Raphael Ruiz says some city schools open their doors after hours to give kids a safe and supervised place to play.
