JAMESTOWN, R.I.  (February 9, 2009)  - Several local Chambers of Commerce have agreed to serve as redemption locations for old tokens to the Newport/Pell Bridge.  As of February 1, tokens were no longer accepted on the Bridge, making E-ZPass and cash the only accepted methods of payment.

“We’re asking drivers not to try and redeem tokens at the toll booths, but instead to use one of the redemption locations,” said David Darlington, chairman of the R.I. Turnpike and Bridge Authority.

To make redeeming unused tokens more convenient, area chambers have agreed to serve as redemption locations. For the foreseeable future unused tokens can be redeemed at the following chambers (call for times):

7am to 7pm Monday through Friday and Saturdays 8 to noon

 E-ZPass Satellite office located at the Newport Gateway Information Center,
23 America's Cup Ave., Newport, Monday – Friday, noon to 7 pm  

Your E-ZPass account will be credited or we can mail you a check.
