For decades, Pawtucket was THE spot for thoroughbred horse racing. Forty-thousand people a day would pack the stands to watch famous horses like Seabiscuit, War Admiral, and Whirlaway.
Narragansett Park was the center of the horse racing world in New England back in the day. But today, all that's left of the park is the grandstand, which is now a Building 19 retail store in the industrial park.
The store still showcases memorabilia, but much of what's left is in the hands of 29-year old collector, Corrie McDermott, a horse owner from Westport, MA. She had never heard of the track until she picked up a book about it. McDermott then started buying some of the old stuff on eBay and put it all on a website.
