Sen. Kennedy responds to Sen. Specter request for Spygate probe

AP

WASHINGTON (AP) - Massachusetts Senator Edward Kennedy says the nation is facing greater problems than the Patriots Spygate
scandal, apparently a knock on Arlen Specter.

Pennsylvania Senator Specter called for an independent
investigation into the Patriots taping of opponents signals after
meeting with former New England video assistant Matt Walsh.

The Republican says the investigation should be similar to the
Mitchell Report on performance enhancing drugs in baseball.

Specter criticized the league's handling of the investigation
one day after NFL commissioner Roger Goodell indicated he
considered the investigation over.

Kennedy, a Democrat, says the Senate should be focused on the
war in Iraq, record-high gas prices and the home foreclosure
crisis, and not the Patriots.
