ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - The Red Sox get three key players back.
Right-hander Josh Beckett, third baseman Mike Lowell and first
baseman Sean Casey all have been activated from the 15-day disabled
list.
Beckett started tonight against the Rangers in Texas. He hasn't
pitched since August 17 due to right elbow inflammation.
Lowell was back in the lineup for the first time since August 12
after being sidelined by a strained right oblique muscle.
Casey didn't start, but was available for the first time since
August 19 after being out with a neck strain.
First baseman Kevin Youkilis was in Boston tending to a personal
matter. He had treatment yesterday for back problems and is
expected to rejoin the team tomorrow (Saturday).
Outfielder J.D. Drew took batting practice and caught balls in
the outfield today for the first time since going on the DL. He
hasn't played since August 17 because of a back strain.
