BOSTON (AP) - The Red Sox' chances against the Los Angeles Angels would certainly improve with third baseman Mike Lowell and outfielder J.D. Drew in the lineup.
Both took batting practice yesterday and could be ready for Game 1 of the divisional playoff series in Anaheim tomorrow night.
Lowell has a left hip injury that affects him more in the field than at the plate. He plans to take infield practice today and see how he moves defensively.
Lowell was the MVP of the World Series last year. He hit .274 with 17 homers and 73 RBIs while being limited to 113 games this season.
Drew played just two games in September because of a strained lower back. He played in a total of 109 games this season and hit .280 with 19 homers and 64 RBIs.
