BOSTON (AP) - The Red Sox are headed to the American League Championship Series for the third time in the past five seasons after last night's 3-2 win over the Angels.
The first two games of the best-of-seven series against the Tampa Bay Rays are Friday and Saturday in Florida. The series returns to Fenway Park on Monday and Tuesday.
Jason Bay slid head first into home plate to score the winning run in the ninth inning on Jed Lowrie's two-out single last night as the Red Sox won the series 3-1.
Jon Lester held the Angels to four hits in seven shutout innings. But he lost his chance at a second victory in the series when Los Angeles scored twice in the eighth to tie it 2-all. Manny Delcarmen got two outs in the ninth for the win.
