NY baseball fan settles 'God Bless America' suit

Ken Bell

.
NEW YORK (AP) - A baseball fan who says he was kicked out of a
Yankees game because he left his seat during "God Bless America"
has settled a lawsuit against New York City and the team.

The city did not admit liability and will give Bradford
Campeau-Laurion of Queens about $10,000. It will also pay $12,000
in fees to the New York Civil Liberties Union.

A Yankees spokeswoman says the team will pay nothing and change no policies. The team says in settlement papers that fans at its
new stadium are allowed to move freely during the song.

Ushers at the old stadium sometimes blocked exits with chains
during the song. But the team said they were instructed to let
through anyone with an emergency.
