Providence at The Dunk Friday vs. Lowell


Providence, RI – The Providence Bruins (2-2-0-0) fell to the Hartford Wolf Pack (2-2-0-0) on Sunday afternoon by a 3-2 margin at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center. The P-Bruins got goals from Drew Fata and Brad Marchand. Providence’s next home game is Friday, October 16 at 7:05 p.m. for Hat Night against the Lowell Devils.

The P-Bruins took a 1-0 lead at the 3:45 mark of the opening period, while on the power play. Zach Hamill held the puck at the blue line and sent it around the boards to Vladimir Sobotka. He found Fata just inside the blue line. Fata shot the puck past Wolf Pack net minder Chad Johnson and into the net for his first goal of the season. Hartford tied the game at one at the 12:31 mark. Ilkka Heikkinen tallied his first goal of the season, while Patrick Rissmiller and Bobby Sanguinetti recorded the assists. The game went into the first intermission tied at one.

The Wolf Pack took their first lead of the game at the 7:32 mark of the second period, while on the power play. Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau netted his fourth goal of the season, with Heikkinen and Evgeny Grachev picking up the assists. Hartford took a two goal advantage when Dale Weise scored on a penalty shot at the 10:31 mark. It was his second goal of the season. The Wolf Pack led 3-1 after two periods.

The P-Bruins pulled within a goal at the 18:55 mark of the third period, while on the power play. Hamill left the puck for Jamie Arniel behind the net. Arniel found Marchand cutting to the net and Marchand scored his fifth goal of the season. Providence went on the power play within the last minute of the game, but was unable to score as Hartford held on for the 3-2 victory.

Matt Dalton stopped 28 of 31 shots for the P-Bruins, while Johnson made 22 saves for the Wolf Pack. The P-Bruins were 2-for-7 on the power play and 4-for-5 on the penalty kill.

Providence returns to The Dunk on Friday for Hat Night against the Devils at 7:05 p.m. The P-Bruins wrap up the weekend at The Dunk Sunday for Brad Marchand Poster Night at 4:05 p.m. versus the Portland Pirates.
