CLEVELAND (AP) - Troubled Cavaliers guard Delonte West was kept out of the season opener against the Boston Celtics.
West, who has battled a mood disorder and other personal
problems during the preseason, was inactive as the Cavs opened a
season Tuesday night they hope ends with a championship.
Cleveland coach Mike Brown said general manager Danny Ferry and a support team working with West decided the guard was not ready to play.
West has battled bipolar disorder in the past and has had a
turbulent off season. He was arrested on weapons charges near his
Maryland home in September. He reported to training camp on time,
but did not show for the first four practices and then left the
Cavaliers for a week to deal with personal issues.
On Monday, West's wife filed a domestic violence report against
him.
