MEN’S BASKETBALL’S ANNUAL MAL BROWN SCRIMMAGE
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Black Team defeated the Silver Team, 43-32, at the Providence College men’s basketball team’s annual Mal Brown Scrimmage on Saturday, October 24 in Alumni Hall. Both teams played a spirited 20 minutes of basketball as part of the College’s annual Fanfest event.
Sophomore guard/forward Marshon Brooks (Stone Mountain, Ga.) led the Black Team with a game-high 18 points and pulled down five rebounds. Freshman forward/center Bilal Dixon (Jersey City, N.J.) added eight points and six rebounds for Black, while freshman guard Vincent Council (Brooklyn, N.Y.) posted a game-high five steals.
The Silver Team was led by freshman guard Duke Mondy (Grand Rapids, Mich.) who notched 11 points and was 3-of-6 from 3-point territory. Junior guard/forward Kyle Wright (Hartford, Conn.) added eight points for Silver while freshman forward James Still (Detroit, Mich.) registered seven points and a game-high three blocks.
The Friars open their exhibition season on Saturday, October 31 at 4:00 p.m. against Merrimack College in Alumni Hall. The game will mark the team’s first on-campus contest since January 22, 1978. A limited number of tickets are still available for the game and can be purchased at Friars.com or by calling the Providence College Ticket Office at 401-865-GOPC.
