SMITHFIELD, R.I. (AP) - Jerell Smith rushed for a career-high
239 yards and three touchdowns to lead Bryant to a 35-12 victory
over St. Francis (Pa.) on Saturday, snapping a five-game losing
streak.
Bryant (4-6, 3-4 Northeast Conference) scored on its first three
possessions, two touchdowns coming on scoring runs by Smith, a
senior.
Smith scored on a 23-yard run on the Bulldogs' opening drive,
and after a fumble, he scored on a 20-yard run to give Bryant a
14-0 lead with 10:02 remaining in the first quarter.
Kyle Harbridge's 62-yard touchdown run cut the lead to 14-7 with
9:37 left in the first quarter, but Bryant's Michael Croce threw
two touchdown passes and Smith scored on a 77-yard run in the
second quarter as the Bulldogs took a 35-12 lead into halftime.
Bryant had 392 yards of offense and held the Red Flash (2-7,
1-6) to 133 yards.
Harbridge finished with 114 yards rushing.
