Mt. St. Charles sweeps Hendricken to claim a 27th state title

Ken Bell

Mt. St. Charles pulled out the brooms on Bishop Hendricken to sweep to end a five year drought without a Division I state title.

The Mounties ralled from a 2-0 deficet and again from a 3-2 Hawks lead by scoring a pair in the 3rd period for a 4 to 3 victory.

Senior forward Leo Levesque scored the game winner with just over 8:00 to play.

John Guay had three assists to go with the two goals in game one, earning him MVP honors.

Legendary caoch Bill Belisle set a national record of 26 straight state titles which was ended in 2003.

Now Belisle has his 27th state crown in what has been a magical run at the Mount.
