BOSTON (AP) - Boston center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury walked
through a crowded clubhouse carrying a base he was awarded for
breaking the team's single-season stolen base record.
The Red Sox cleared out of Fenway Park on Monday, a day after
they were swept out of the playoffs by the Los Angeles Angels. The
sudden end to their season left players saying they were
disappointed, unfulfilled and eager to do better next year.
Dustin Pedroia's Gold Glove and Silver Slugger awards sat on a
table, waiting to be boxed up and shipped home.
Leftfielder Jason Bay, a potential free agent, said he would
like to come back but will test the market in the offseason.
Catcher Jason Varitek, shortstop Alex Gonzalez and reliever Billy
Wagner also could become free agents.
