World AIDS Day in Providence

Posted: Updated:

If you were in downtown Providence Thursday evening, you may have seen a red glow on some of the buildings.

17 of them were lit up red to commemorate World AIDS Day. Mayor Angel Taveras and the first lady of Rhode Island Stephanie Chafee were at the Biltmore Hotel to celebrate the lighting.

The point is to shine awareness on the spread of AIDS all over the world.

Also Thursday, there was free HIV testing at AIDS Project Rhode Island. If you missed the free testing at the Wickenden Street location, you can call and make any appointment any time of year.
