20,000 pounds of apples donated to the R.I. Food Bank
They say an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Imagine what 20,000 apples will do.
Dave's Marketplace, which has nine store in Rhode Island, donated 20,000 apples to the Rhode Island Food Bank with the help of Fresh Fruits Marketing of Washington.
"You know, one out of every five children do not get enough food to eat every day. And it's our opportunity to give them a nice bag of Granny Smith apples," said Dennis Hogan, who works for Dave's Marketplace.
60,000 people a month rely on the Rhode Island Food Bank's programs.
