We first met molly several months ago when she had been taken to the S-P-C-A in terrible condition.
After much rehabilitation and tender loving care, Molly is ready to be adopted.
Her former owner had to answer to a judge about what she did to this sweet little dog.
Doctor E.J. Finnocchio with the S-P-C-A says it was one of the worst cases of animal abuse and neglect he has ever seen.
Molly came to his care after a phone call from Woonsocket Animal Control alerted him to the abuse.
Molly had a condition called demadectic mange and fleas....she was in such pain from itching...that she began to mutilate herself.
Dr. Finnocchio offered a $500 reward for information leading to her owner.
Sure enough, he got a phone call and that tipster turned out to be molly's owner....Deborah Ranslow.
She was charged with animal cruelty and neglect and was found guilty after pleading no contest.
Ranslow has been hauled to court five other times for various crimes, including domestic assault in 2006.
For doing this to Molly... Ranslow must serve 15 hours of community service and can't live with an animal for 5 years.
If she behaves herself for the next year, the case will be expunged.
Molly has recovered and is looking for a new home.
Molly is this week's pick of the litter...and if you are interested in adopting this sweet four year old chihuaua...
