After months of cutting jobs in the Providence fire department... the city is now hiring.
Mayor Taveras announcing the city is looking to hire up to fifty firefighters.
The applicants that are accepted will immediately be enrolled in the fire safety school in October...
The Mayor says the new hires will cut down on out of control overtime costs..
18-year old Joshua Martinez is who heard about the hires,excited about the prospects,he's says, he's been looking for the opportunity to be a firefighter. The city is taking applications now.. Training will last for six months-after that if you meet the requirements, will you'll become firefighter.
