Relief comes for homeowners on Perkins Avenue

Mayor Allen Fung ,Senators Sheldon Whitehouse and Jack Reed held a press conference announcing federal money is now available to purchase properties located in the flood prone area on Perkins Avenue. The city of Cranston has obtained a federal disaster recovery grant of 1.2 million dollars to buyout nine homes in the most flood- prone areas on Perkins avenue...

     In 2011, homeowners had applied for a nearly $3 million grant that would give Cranston the ability to purchase the homes in the Perkins Avenue and Amanda Court areas , and turn the land back into flood plains. The City of Cranston has applied for funding to buy 10 additional homes through a state grant, there's no word as to when, or if they'll get the money.
