Men make daring escape from fishing boat

Posted: Updated:

Two men make a daring escape from a fishing boat in the wild waves near Jamestown.

The Coast Guard told ABC6 the men were delivering the boat from Delaware to Newport, Saturday, when they ran out of gas. That's when the 12 foot waves near Beaver Tail Point dragged the boat into some rocks.

Coast Guard members said it's a miracle the men made it out alive. "Luckily they had life jackets," said Ryan Whitman, "I can't stress enough the importance of wearing life jackets. That probably saved their lives."

One man ended up in the water. The other one was able to stay on the boat as it drifted onto the rocks. Both men were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. They were treated and released.
