Swimming banned at 5 Rhode Island beaches

Posted: Updated:

A fifth beach has been added to the list of those in Rhode Island now closed to swimming. The beach at Fort Adams State Park in Newport is closed because of high bacteria counts.

You're also not allowed in the water at Bristol Town Beach, Third Beach in Middletown, King's Park Beach in Newport, and Goddard Memorial Beach in Warwick.

The Health Department is testing the water and will re-open the beaches when it's safe
