Almost three-thousand people have converged on the Rhode Island convention center.
Netroots nation,an activist group,holding its seventh annual conference .
For the city of Providence,it's a much needed economic boost.Tim Muldoon, General manager of the convention center says, all of those people in the city, staying at hotels, going out to eat, they're estimating that it's going to be a 3.5 million dollar economic impact to the city..
The conference has drawn a cross section people from around the world including bloggers and journalist.The activist group practices progressive politics online,striving to get its messages out on subjects concerning women's rights-gun control and politics.
Executive director Raven Brooks says,they get a lot of work done online, but's it's important to meet,t to build strategies.
Mayor Angel Taveras is very excited to have the convention here saying, it could not have come at a better time.. Mayor Taveras will also be one of the speakers at the convention along with New York attorney general Eric Schneiderman and activist Van Jones .the conference runs through Sunday.
