RI House approves 8.1 billion dollar budget - ABC6 - Providence, RI and New Bedford, MA News, Weather

The Rhode Island House has given the green light to an 8.1 billion dollar state budget.
The house voted 57-to-15 early Friday morning to send the measure to the State Senate. If passed, the plan would boost school funding and services for the developmentally disabled as well as authorize a new bridge toll.
It would also impose the state's 7-percent sales tax on pet grooming, taxi fares and clothing, costing 250-dollars, or more.
Lawmakers voted to take out a proposed tax on car washes.
A vote is expected next week.
