Quonset is bracing for record crowds at this weekend's air show. ABC 6 reporter Abbey Niezgoda went up with one of the pilots to get a bird's eye view of Rhode Island.
With her parachute and her aviators on, Niezgoda was ready for a lesson in aerobatic aviation. It was a little daunting to be 2,000 feet off the ground, but she was in good hands with pilot John Klatt.
"This is the best office space in the world," Klatt said. "I get to see the beauty of America from this vantage point."
Klatt's been flying high for almost 30 years. He is used to flying the plane for the Air National Guard in Minnesota, but this weekend, he will take on the air show at Quonset Point.
Klatt gave Niezgoda just a taste of what he will be performing at the Air Show during his 12 minute routine. She managed to make it through the whole flight of flips and turns without getting sick.
The Air Show is Saturday and Sunday June 16th and 17th at Quonset Airport. Gates open at 9 o'clock in the morning.
