Providence , like many cites in America, has a large number of abandoned houses, many of them brought on by foreclosure and weak economy. From 2009 to 2011, Providence had nearly 1700 foreclosures.
Jeff Padwa of the City of Providence says, the Mayor 's office has come up with a plan to deal with the huge number of vacant houses.He says,the city is actively identifying the foreclosed properties in the city, next week we'll have interns from my office working under the supervision of the police walking the neighborhood identifying abandon properties and nuisance properties.After the city identifies why the properties are abandoned, they will take action to make the properties usable again.
