Woonsocket man in critical condition after jumping from car

A Woonsocket man is in critical condition Sunday morning after jumping out of a moving car on Eddie Dowling Highway in North Smithfield, according to police.

Police did not say how fast the vehicle was going when Ruben Dejesus, 43, of Woonsocket, opened the passenger-side door and jumped out.

According to police, Dejesus was traveling as a passenger in a car with Daisy Guerra, 33, of Woonsocket. Police say an argument may have led to the man's decision to exit the vehicle, but the reasons why he did so are still under investigation.

Police say Dejesus sustained injuries as a result of his collision with the pavement. He was taken to Landmark Hospital but later transported to Rhode Island hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, as of Sunday morning.
