MA fire fighter held after DUI crash and police assault

A Framingham fire fighter is being held in Glocester, R. I. facing six charges and being held on $2500.00 bail.

Fifty year old William R. Cline of Douglas, M. A. is facing charges of felony assault on a police officer, simple assault on a police officer, D.U.I., resisting arrest, obstructing of justice and disorderly conduct and refusing to submit to a chemical test.

Police say Cline crashed his car on a bridge on Jackson School House road just after midnight last night.

When police responded to assist him, he allegedly assaulted one of the officers, then attempted to flea on foot.

After a foot pursuit he assaulted the second officer and injured him.

After the arrest and being taken back to the station, he refused to submit to a chemical test.

The second officer assaulted was taken to Fatima Hospital to treat his injuries. 

Cline will be back in court to answer to the charge of refusing a chemical test on July 6th, then August 21st for the rest of the charges.
