The heat and humidity that's coming our way has triggered an early air-quality alert this morning. The Department of Environmental Management has issued a warning that the air will be unhealthy to breathe
So, you're encouraged to stay indoors and limit outside activities. RIPTA will be giving free bus and trolley rides to help reduce emissions into the Ozone.
Providence is taking some special precautions to help protect people from the heat, opening up cooling centers across the city.
On Wednesday, June 20 and Thursday, June 21, the Salvation Army will operate a cooling station from 12-3PM in Kennedy Plaza across the street from Providence City Hall.
