The Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training Unemployment Insurance Call Center will be operating at reduced hours after the lay off of 67 employees.

The DLT call center's new hours of operation begin July 2nd:

Mondays: 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Tuesday: 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Wednesdays: 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Thursdays: 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Fridays: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Until July the call center will remain open until 3:00pm on Thursdays and Fridays as has been it's schedule in the past.

Mondays and Tuesdays continue to be the busiest days for the call center with the average wait times ranging from 28-30 minutes respectively. With the reduction in staff the wait times on the phone may increase by 10-20 minutes.

The DLT wants new claimants to use their web site www.dlt.ri.gov if possible to avoid using the Teleclaim Center.

For any other questions Rhode Islanders can call the DLT at (401) 462-8000.

CORRECTION: The original version of this article didn't specify that the Unemployment Insurance Call Center's hours would be changing.
