PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) is reminding people that on Sunday, July 1, 2012 Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) service and fare changes will go into effect, according to information released by the DOT.
The RIDOT highlights several important changes to go into effect Sunday:
- The travel fare on an MBTA commuter train between Wickford Junction and T.F. Green will cost $3 each way.
- The cost of travel between Wickford Junction and Providence will cost $3.25 each way.
- Travel between Wickford Junction and Boston's South Station will cost $11 each way.
- Travel between T.F. Green and Providence will cost $3 each way, while travel between T.F. Green and Boston will cost $10.50 each way.
- Travel between Providence and Boston will cost $10, or $13 on board.
Tickets are half price for seniors as well as those with physical disabilities. Children age 11 and younger are free when accompanied by a paying adult.
The rates for monthly passes will change as well:
- Monthly passes for unlimited travel between Wickford Junction and Providence will cost $109.
- The monthly pass for unlimited travel between Wickford Junction and South Station will cost $345.
- Monthly passes for unlimited travel between Providence and T.F. Green will cost $100.
- Monthly passes for unlimited travel between T.F. Green and Boston will cost $329.
- Monthly passes between Providence and Boston cost $314.
The purchase of a monthly pass (not Interzone) includes travel on all MBTA buses and subways, and the Inner Harbor Ferry.
