BRISTOL, R.I. - The Bristol Fourth of July parade is just days away, and now Rhode Islanders will have a chance to sport up their cars with a patriotic license plate.
Bristol Fourth of July parade chairman Dick Devault said that the plates would be a great opportunity for Rhode Islanders to express their love for Rhode Island.
"Certainly in the state of Rhode Island, we're a very patriotic group of people, and it gives people an opportunity to make others aware of your patriotism," Devault said.
The Bristol Fourth of July parade committee came up with the idea. The plates cost $41.50, twenty dollars of which will go to the Bristol Fourth of July committee as a donation.
They need 900 people to submit applications before the plates can be manufactured by the DMV.
Right now, the committee says they have around 650 applications, which means they need around 250 more in order to meet the goal.
Anyone in the state with a registered car can order the plate by filling out the order form on the Bristol Fourth of July web site, http://www.july4thbristolri.com.
