PAWTUCKET, R.I. (AP) - Interstate 95 North through Pawtucket is scheduled to close during the early-morning hours for much of July as crews work on a new bridge.
The Rhode Island Department of Transportation says the closures will last from midnight until 4 a.m. on weekdays starting Wednesday. The work is scheduled to last three weeks. Northbound traffic during those hours will have to leave the highway at Exit 27 and follow a detour before getting back on the highway.
The department says the highway will reopen before the morning commute. The closure will allow crews to continue to set steel for the new northbound span, which is scheduled to open later this year. The southbound bridge is scheduled to be rebuilt next year.
