A Providence father is being held without bail after being charged with the brutal murder of his baby girl.
Christina Jimenez had only been alive for 8 weeks when her heart stopped. Police say it is the sad result of being beaten so badly by her father.
"She had four skull fractures, at least 25 rib fractures," Shannon Signore, special assistant to the Attorney General said. "She had a tibia fracture, multiple fractures to her fingers and toes."
Christina was taken off life support over the weekend, so now 26-year-old Christopher Jimenez stands charged with his daughter's murder. Before her death, he was charged with child abuse.
No plea was entered, but prosecutor's say he has already admitted to a lot of it.
"He admitted to dropping the baby, sitting on the baby, squeezing the baby," Signore said.
Soon after Jimenez's hearing, police showed up to his home in Providence taking out what they say is more evidence. The baby's grandfather watched in horror.
"It's very, very hard because we loved the child," Maurez Gozalez said. "We believe it was all an accident."
Prosecutors say that is hard to believe considering all of the injuries to Christina's little body.
"He admitted to squeezing the baby so hard it may have fractured her ribs," Signore said.
The baby's mother, Mayra Gonzalez is due in court at the end of the month. Her charges are also expected to be upgraded.
