CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island Housing and Gov. Lincoln Chafee are celebrating the launch of new home loan programs designed to help more residents to buy a home.
The housing organization now offers mortgages to non-first-time home buyers and a new type of loan with lower monthly payments to qualified first-time buyers.
Chafee and Rhode Island Housing officially launched the new mortgage programs Thursday at the Cranston residence of a couple that purchased their home using one of the new loan options.
Rhode Island Housing was created by the state's General Assembly to assist Rhode Islanders find homes through lending programs and housing subsidies.
