NEW BEDFORD - A robber tries to nab cash from a restaurant in New Bedford, but can't seem to cut it against the store's owner, who refused to go down without a fight.
Police say the owner of Sarducci's Subs and Pizza on Pleasant St. was closing up shop and counting cash at about 3 a.m. Wednesday morning. After the owner, who is in his 60s, left the restaurant, a man went after him and tried to grab the deposit bag full of cash.
The owner fought back, swinging his cane at the man. He hit the would-be robber until he ran away.
Police say the suspect is a white man who was wearing black at the time of the robbery attempt.
