Bisons Come From Behind in 9th to Win

The Paw Sox(51-42) lost to the Buffalo Bison (47-45) at McCoy, Thursday Night. The game remained scoreless through the first two innings for both teams. A double play by Pawtucket shortstop, Jose Inglesias, ended the second inning and prevented any scoring.

Carl Crawford's first at bat resulted in a grounder towards second base, and was thrown out at first. While he threw, ran and hit well, he played up until the fifth inning. When asked how he felt leaving the game early he said,"We're taking it day to day, that day [meaning Monday], is a day we are trying to reach" Eager to be back on the field, Crawford said "I feel the pressure of everyone to try and get out there, ill try to get as many at bats as possible".

The Bisons were the first to score in the third inning. Fred Lewis singled and was advanced to third by a hard hit into centerfield by Josh Rodriguez. Lewis scored on a grounder by Che-Hsuan, and Rodriguez brought home by Den Dekker.

The PawSox returned with one run, begun by a single from Lin, then Crawford and brought home by a hit from Kalish. Fred Lewis hit a home run in the top of the fourth inning, and Den Dekker scores on a sharp hit by Satin. Mathais was pulled from the game with 4 2/3 innings, 3 walks, I strike out and a total of 93 pitches, 51 of which were strikes. Alex Wilson finished up the inning, striking out Tuiasosopo.

The home team answered with 4 runs in the fifth inning. Lin and Crawford were on base when Lavarnway ripped the ball into left field, for a double, bringing Lin home. The Bison pitcher Jeremy Hefner is replaced with Jenry Mejia but the Paw Sox scored three more runs before the inning ended. The score was 4-5.

Pawtucket remained in the lead as Crawford left the game. In the sixth inning  Buffalo's Garett Olsen replaces Mejia, who had 2 hits, 1 run and one strike out, less than an inning played. Noone scored in the seventh inning despite Den Dekker reaching third base on a single, a stolen base and a stray pitch. Clayton Mortenson took the mound to replace Wilson, he went 2 innings with 1 hit and 3 strike outs. Mortenson promptly stuck out Pascucci to end the inning.

The Pawtucket Red Sox were leading the game 4-5 when the ninth inning began. Mortensen threw 34 pitches, 19 strikes and had one strike out, was replaced by Garett Mock. Mock entered the game with bases loaded and soon had a full count. Three Bison players were walked in for scoring runs, and a base hit brought in the fourth. The Paw Sox lost the game 8-4.The two teams will face off again tomorrow night at 7:05 here at McCoy.
