BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today announced that they have signed four players selected in the 2012 First-Year Player Draft, including right-handed pitchers Stephen Williams (16th round) and Willie Ethington (17th round), and outfielders Brandon Magee (23rd round) and Khiry Cooper (25th round).

Red Sox Director of Amateur Scouting Amiel Sawdaye made the announcements.

Williams, a sophomore at Seminole State (OK) College this year, posted a 2.51 ERA (8 ER/28.2 IP) and 40 strikeouts in 23 games in 2012.  Ethington, who was drafted out of Mountain View (AZ) High School where he pitched and played shortstop, earned 2012 Player of the Year honors on the Mesa All-City team and was selected as the Division I Player of the Year in a MaxPreps poll of Arizona coaches.  Magee, who is also a linebacker on the Arizona State football team, was a three-year letterman with the ASU baseball team and went to the College World Series with the Sun Devils twice.  Cooper was a three-time letterman in baseball at the University of Nebraska and also played wide receiver for the Huskers football team.

Boston signed 25 players overall selected in the 2012 First-Year Player Draft, including all 12 of their picks over rounds one through 10.  Please see attached release for a complete look at the Red Sox 2012 draft selections
