COVENTRY, R.I. - A Connecticut man is still in serious condition after crashing his truck into a telephone pole and a tree early Sunday morning.

According to Coventry police, the accident happened around 1:50 a.m. when a 32-year-old man from Sterling, Conn. was driving near the intersection of Harkney Hill Road and 3M Road when he crashed his Toyota Tundra into a telephone pole and a tree.

He was taken by helicopter to Rhode Island Hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries.

Police say speed was a factor in the crash, but that it's unclear how the man lost control.
