NEW BEDFORD, Mass. - New Bedford Police say that an assault rifle with a scope and 60 bullets is still missing from the police department.
A source tells ABC6 News that the weapon is a high-powered rifle, an AR-15 type long-range gun.
Police say that the circumstances surrounding the missing weapon constitute a crime, and that the department is working as quickly as it can to locate the missing weapon.
Police would not comment on whether the weapon disappeared due to theft, misplacement, or other circumstances.
