The door knocks came early in Newport to those accused of buying and dealing drugs. The massive drug raid was the result of a 5 month undercover investigation.

Officers rounded up suspects one by one for selling marijuana, crack cocaine and prescription drugs. They picked up 3 on Meeting Street and 2 more on Chapel Terrace. 19 people total were arrested, all facing similar charges for delivering drugs.

They were brought to court by the busload to be arraigned. Because they are facing felony charges, no pleas were entered today. The majority of them were held without bail until their hearings begin next week.

Police are still searching for 12 more suspected drug dealers they have warrants for, but have yet to find.
