PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island is celebrating summertime with a day of free parking and family activities at state beaches.

The annual Governor's Bay Day event will be held Sunday.

Parking will be free at all Rhode Island state beaches. The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority will offer free roundtrip fares from Providence's Kennedy Plaza to South County beaches.

Community barbecue parties and several family activities are planned throughout the day at Goddard Memorial State Park in Warwick and India Point Park in Providence.

In Narragansett, Scarborough State Beach will have activities, live music and a rock climbing wall, and free skin cancer screening will be offered at Roger Wheeler State Beach.
