CCRI Baseball Coach Ken Hopkins Named District Coach of the Year

Hopkins named ABCA/Diamond Sports East District Coach of Year!

Warwick, R.I. – July 30, 2012:  The 2012 CCRI baseball team had a dream season.  The Knights finished with a 33-13 record and won the Region XXI and Eastern District Championships and capped its season with a trip to the NJCAA Division II World Series in Enid, OK.  The Knights fell in their two games in Enid but were still one of the Top 10 Division II baseball programs in the nation.   Recently, the Knights received its final award from that dream season with Head Coach Ken Hopkins being named the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Diamond Sports Company Eastern District Coach of the Year.  Coach Hopkins is the CCRI Baseball Program's all-time wins leader with an impressive 304-141-2 overall record over his 12 seasons as Head Coach.   The Division II Baseball National Coach of the Year honors went to Jeff Willis, the Head Coach of National Champion LSU-Eunice.
