PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A former Chariho High School assistant soccer coach has been indicted by a federal grand jury on child pornography charges.
The U.S. Attorney's office in Rhode Island said a three-count indictment was returned Wednesday charging Glen Matteson with receipt, possession and distribution of child pornography.
Prosecutors say the 52-year-old from Richmond also faces state charges of indecent solicitation of a child and possession of child pornography. Those charges were brought by the Richmond police department.
Matteson was arrested by local police in February. Authorities began investigating after a parent reported that his juvenile son had received inappropriate text messages from the coach.
Matteson appeared in U.S. District Court Wednesday and was released on unsecured bond.
A working telephone listing for him could not be found Wednesday.
